Description

Geode Agate Coaster Silicone Mold A

This listing is for one handmade Geode Agate Coaster Silicone Mold, with an irregular edge, that you can use for Epoxy Resin casting.** We also offer a sister/companion product which is Geode Agate Coaster Silicone Mold B, that has slightly different shapes inside.

We’ve included a video above, to show this Mold next to some finished pieces.

To better describe using this Geode Agate Coaster Mold, we use the terms “river” and “islands” (the river runs thru, and around, the island pieces.) This Mold has a total of 11 “islands.” On a finished Coaster, the top of the river area will be glossy, while the sides will be semi-glossy and irregular. The bottoms of the island areas will have a matte finish, on a finished Coaster, and they will show tool marks, so they can either be top coated with a bit of resin, for a glossy finish, or filled with Crystals, Glass, or Flowers. As long as you don’t fill the island areas too high, there won’t be any need to top coat this Coaster, as cups/glasses can rest comfortably, directly on the river area.

Here are two ways to work with this Mold:

#1 – You can fill the whole mold with your choice of Glitter, Crystals, Mica powders, or Resin Inks, and once the resin has cured/dried, and you have demolded, you can fill the island insets with Crystals, Glass, Flowers, etc., and secure them with resin or DecoArt Satin Varnish.

#2 – You can fill the river portion first with Glitter, Crystals, Mica powders, or Resin Inks, and once that river area has cured/dried, you can brush color shift Mica Pigments, on the island areas, then finish the pour with Black resin. Once you have demolded, you can simply top coat the island insets with a bit of resin, for a glossy finish.

The sides of the completed Coaster can be finished easily with Acrylic Paint or Acrylic Paint Pens.

NOTE: The finished Coasters are shown as samples of what can be created using this mold. The finished Coasters are not included.

We have uploaded several Video Tutorials, showing how to use this Mold, on our YouTube Channel. Links to those videos are also provided below.

Crystal Size Info
The Crystal Chips we sell in our Resin Art Supplies, are not calibrated. Crystal Chips are what remains after the tumbling process of larger, rough stones. The size/measurement of these Crystal Chips is approximate, and falls within a size range. Since orders are filled using random scoops, you will receive larger and smaller Crystals, than the stated measurements. These Crystals are intended for crafting purposes, and we don't guarantee that you will receive any specific Crystal size, for use with any other purpose. The amount of Crystals included will vary based on size and weight.

Silicone Mold Care Guide
Helpful tips for working with Silicone Molds

• Never use a torch or open flame with Silicone Molds.
• Never use anything sharp or abrasive, inside the mold.
• Always use high quality Epoxy Resin products and follow the mixing and pouring directions for that product.
• Keep your mold clean - Keep dust away by storing it in a plastic bag, and only use tape or warm water to clean it.
• The glossy surface of molds will fade away with repeated use. When this happens you will have to topcoat your finished piece, or purchase a new mold.
